About PolicyCompared

I’m Clay Crockett. I price construction rebuilds for a living, I own two rental properties in Central Texas, and in 2021 a hail claim paid me less than half of what my new roof cost. The reason was an actual cash value settlement clause sitting in a policy I had never read. I read the whole form that weekend. Then I read my landlord policies. I have not stopped since.

PolicyCompared is where that habit ended up. The site compares insurance policies side by side, homeowners, landlord, and windstorm, with real policy mechanics and real numbers.

Most insurance content online is written to capture your quote request. This site is written to answer the question you actually typed: what does this coverage do, what does it cost, and how do the carriers differ.

How I compare

I read the policy forms, not the marketing pages. Deductible structures, exclusions, settlement clauses, and the fine print that changes a claim outcome. That is the comparison that matters, because it is the one that shows up in the check.

When a question needs a license to answer, I say so and point you to a licensed agent. Mine is a reader’s seat, not an agent’s.

What this site is not

I am not an insurance carrier, not an agent, and I do not sell policies. PolicyCompared is an editorial site.
